The Suchdol nad Odrou township invites you to a few ventures
Suchdol nad Odrou is one of the places in Europe where Comenius’ legacy is most palpable, and it is mainly due to Comenius’ spiritual descendants, the Moravian Brethren. Thanks to this fact, Suchdol nad Odrou can be considered a cradle of the renewed Unity of the Brethren, whose heritage is strongly felt here.
To mark Comenius’ 350th death anniversary the township, located in the Nový Jičín district, invites you for instance to a composed feature entitled „The Journey of a Wanderer, or, Comenius is Coming Back” in the Evangelic church on September 27th, 2020. In the Moravian Brethren Museum “Public Reading from Comenius” will take place on October 3rd, 2020, and a lecture called “Comenius as a Reformer” on October 10th, 2020. One day later, on October 11th, 2020 a programme entitled “Comenius’ Heritage in Suchdol nad Odrou” will be presented, which will include a holy mass, a lecture and an exhibition on the theme of Comenius’ descendants, a guided tour through an exhibition “Comenius and Suchdol”, another lecture, “Comenius’ work ‘Improvement of All Things Human’”, a concert and a laying flowers ceremony. A thematic trip “Comenius’ forest churches and memorabilia” is planned for October 17th, 2020.
